Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does "quick" mean?

Just that. I work fast and you'll be up and running in about two weeks after you provide your logo, photos, content and an idea for a theme. I will provide an easy form to fill out that will help you flesh out the mood your want your website to convey. While it is your responsibility to provide all of your site content, I can help you optimize it for search engines (incorporating key words that will help users find you).

What exactly does "clean" mean?

It means a basic website with very few bells and whistles. It's informational for your prospective customers and gets you a web presence. If you want a flashy site with lots of cool functions like Flash intros and custom e-commerce, I can recommend other web programmers who can do that - for a lot more money.

Clean also means code that is more easily indexed by search engines like Google and Yahoo. Search engines don't care how pretty your site is - they only care about what it has to say. Designing a site using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), all the formatting that makes a webpage look the way it looks is on a completely separate page. The search engines don't have to sift through a bunch of HTML code to get to the purpose of your site.

What if I know I need a website, but I'm not sure I have enough to say?

You'll be surprised. Along with your basic services, there's you and your staff to profile, frequently asked questions to answer (I'm doing that right now), testimonials to publicize and handy information for your prospective customers. I recently built a website for an attorney who initially handed me a business card and a newspaper ad! When I asked for specific information he found it easy to write content for his site.

What are your terms of payment?

I will request half of the fee up front and build your new site on my servers. When we're both happy with the result, you will pay the balance and I will upload your site to your server or host.

What if I don't have a host?

For an extra fee, I can get you set up with the website host of your choice. I will always recommend GoDaddy, however.

If my email address is on the Internet, won't I end up with a lot of SPAM?

No. You can choose to have web users contact you via a form like this one. The user's message will be emailed to you. Your email address is buried in code where web crawlers (those pesky robots that send you all that junk email) can't reach it. You will only get email from people you want to hear from.

What if I need to update my website?

I will be available to do all your website maintenance for $50 per hour, billed by the half-hour. You can also hire anyone to do it.
